Over 90 Langlade County residents and businesses contributed to The $19.12 campaign sponsored by the Langlade County Humane Society (LCHS or Shelter), according to Robert Zoretich, the organization’s president.
“We are grateful for these 91 residents and businesses who responded to our plea for donations,” Zoretich said. “The $6992 raised by the fundraiser helps replace the funds we would have made at Humane Society fund-raising events which have been canceled due to COVID-19.”
According to Zoretich, 36 contributors either dropped their donation off or sent it by postal mail.
“In fact, we may still have some contributions that are coming in the mail,” he said.
“We are so grateful for all the donations that we received, and we will continue with our efforts until we reach our goal of $13,000,” said James Engmann, the campaign’s coordinator.
Engmann, a member of the board, said that while the Facebook campaign will continue until the end of May, “we will also continue with other methods of reaching out to our communities.”
On behalf of the animals and the shelter, Zoretich thanked all who donated.
“We raised over 50 percent of the money we need to keep the shelter open this month and for that we are most grateful,” he said.
Donations may be mailed to the Langlade County Humane Society, 2204 Clermont St., Antigo 54409-2430. Donations are also accepted via the organization’s Facebook page.
