Kristin Lapree of Wausau, has been sentenced to three years in prison followed by five years of extended supervision for stealing from her place of work.
The eight year sentence is followed by a four year withheld sentence.
Lapree was convicted of stealing more than $700,000 from Rettler Corporation in Stevens Point while she worked there as the book keeper. The thefts began in 2012 when Lapree is accused of forging the CEO’s signature to write checks to herself.
Lapree was found quilty of using the money on rent for a home on a golf course along with personal items like Louis Vuitton bags.
According to the Portage County district attorney, this was one of the largest thefts from a business in Portage County’s history.
