Drive-up movie

Antigo first drive-up movie in June drew a nice crowd to the Peaceful Valley Festival Grounds, as seen in this drone photograph.

The City of Antigo Park, Recreation Department is offering another blast from the past - a drive-up movie - Friday, at the Peaceful Valley Festival Grounds.

The movie starts at 9 p.m., and parking begins at 8:15 p.m., with 102 parking spots available. Visit their Facebook page for live updates on parking availability at facebook.com/CityofAntigo.

The Bay at Eastview is sponsoring this movie and the hint is “a little fast blue animal,” a family friendly, newer released movie.

These events are COVID friendly and everyone is social distanced in their vehicles. No food or drink items will be sold at the grounds but it’s encouraged to stop at a local store or restaurant and get some delicious to-go goodies to enjoy while watching.

Turn your radio station to 107.1 to tune into the movie.

Electrical outlets are available on site for those who would like to bring their own radio. There are porta potty’s as well.

The third movie showing is scheduled for July 17, sponsored by the City of Antigo.

And a fourth showing in August will be sponsored by CoVantage Credit Union, with more information to come.

“A shoutout to those sponsoring, we are thankful for your sponsorship and encourage anyone else who may be interested in sponsoring to contact the City of Antigo,” said Sarah Repp, City of Antigo Park and Recreation organizer. “And a big thank you to DeWans for letting us use their equipment to make the  showing happen.”

The first movie, held on June 19, drew an excellent turnout for “Aquaman,” leading to the decision to hold more.
