{p class=”p1”} A lone initial appearance on new criminal charges marked the primary activity in Langlade County Circuit Court on Tuesday afternoon.

{p class=”p1”}Michael Wayne Fredrich, 75, 107 Virginia St., is charged with fourth offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct. He was ordered to a $1,000 cash bond, which he posted, with conditions that he not use alcohol, not drive without a valid license and not be present in establishments with a class B liquor license.

{p class=”p1”}According to the criminal complaint, shortly after midnight Monday, personnel from the Langlade County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of someone pounding on the doors at Rick’s Roadhouse on Highway 45 and Highway N. Before their arrival, the male subject, Fredrich, had walked away.

{p class=”p1”}Deputies searched and located him lying in the ditch of Highway 45, upon which he allegedly admitted being drunk and driving his truck in the ditch. There was an odor of intoxicants, and Fredrich was unsteady on his feet.

{p class=”p1”}Fredrich was transported to Aspirus Langlade Hospital, where he attempted to conduct field sobriety tests but could not complete them. He then began cursing and yelling about the hospital, and would not cooperate with a preliminary breath test or consent to a legal blood draw until a warrant was obtained.

{p class=”p1”}Throughout the time in the emergency room, Fredrich continued yelling and swearing, including at a doctor that he requested. When being placed under arrest, he actively resisted and continued to curse and yell.

{p class=”p1”}Fredrich was previously convicted of operating while intoxicated in February 1991, April 1993 and December 1994.
