Fighting stomach cancer

Danna DeHart-Emerich is in the fight of her life as she battles stage 4 stomach cancer. A benefit to help and her family will be held Saturday at the Wolf River Town Hall.

If you’ve spent any time in or around White Lake or the town of Wolf River, you’ve probably come across Danna DeHart-Emerich. Involved with the community, the school and the medical profession, she always has something going on.

Now, it’s time to help her.

At the beginning of November, Emerich was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. Because it has spread, surgery is not an option, nor is radiation. Emerich, 52, is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

“Danna is unable to work, and the bills don’t stop just because you are sick,” said Amanda Hatch, one of the organizers of a fundraiser to help Emerich. “Danna is very loved by the community. Her family can use all of the help they can get.”

A fundraiser to help Emerich and her family will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wolf River Town Hall, N4393 Blue Goose Drive, White Lake.

The benefit will have the usual ways to raise funds—donated food and drink, raffle prizes a paddle wheel and more. But, Hatch said, this fundraiser is special.

“There will be a bake sale. We will have DJ entertainment, hot food with ham donated by Edelman Meats and hamburger donated by Juanita Morin,” Hatch said. “The soda and water has all been donated by MidWisconsin Beverage and, Grudgeville Pub and Grub has donated all of the beer.”

The benefit will feature several raffles, including bucket raffles, the paddle wheel and more.

“Raffle prizes include a gun raffle, an 8-foot Lundell snowblower that attaches to a tractor, Playstation 5, television, kayak, guided fly fishing trip on the Wolf River by Travis Stuck, fishing equipment from Limit Out Baits, handmade quilt by Debbie Budd, and tons of baskets and gift certificates,” Hatch said.
