A lone criminal case opened in Langlade County Court on Wednesday afternoon.
Adam J. Ray, 32, 511 Watson St., faces a slew of nine felony charges: six counts of sex offender registry violation, two counts of felony bail jumping and one count of using a different name as a sex offender.
Ray posted a $3,000 cash bond, with instructions to comply with the state sex offender registry rules. He had been free on a $400 cash bond since August 2020 for another charge of violating the offender registry.
Ray pled no contest to third degree sexual assault in May 2014.
According to the criminal complaint, on May 28 a Langlade County detective located a Facebook post from an account “Ray Ray” in the Antigo Rummage and more group, noting it was consistent with Adam Ray. The detective subsequently located two more Facebook accounts that were linked to Ray.
The detective eventually located Ray via telephone, noting that he was not permanently residing at the location listed on his sex offender registry. A chat with a sex offender registry specialist revealed that Ray had not disclosed the Facebook profiles.
When confronted with the information, Ray said “maybe he forgot” about updating his offender registry information. He further stated he was “locked out” of the Facebook accounts, a statement not consistent with the detective’s discoveries.
