The Antigo Fire Department marked the 22nd anniversary of Acting Lieutenant Ron Pizl earlier this week. He was appointed to his current position in 2004.
Pizl is a second-generation firefighter with the department. He followed in the footsteps of his father, Deputy Chief Dennis Pizl.
With the department, Pizl is active in the fire and EMS committees, and helps train new employees.
He is a fire instructor for Nicolet Area Technical College. He also participates with REACT (Regional Emergency All Climate Training) and is a Wisconsin Task Force 1 logistics manager. Pizl has been a certified car seat technician for many years and is a member of Kids TravelSafe of Langlade County.
Pizl also is active in the Antigo Firefighters Local 1000 union. He has been the union secretary/treasurer for about 10 years and organizes fundraisers for MDA, including distribution and retrieval of MDA Shamrocks at local businesses.
