On Saturday, the White Lake Pavilion will be renamed the Joe Edelman Pavilion in recognition of his continuous dedication to the village of White Lake.
In 1975, Edelman became president of the village and served as the longest president in history, serving 38 years.
During his time as village president, he made updates to the sewer and water, facilitated the pavilion, got a grant for the ballpark, worked with the VFW to update restrooms at the ballpark, made improvements to the White Lake beach, and helped put the 165-foot fishing pier on White Lake.
In addition, he donates his large refrigerated truck to the local food pantry every month to go to Oshkosh for supplies.
He also provides discounted meats for meat raffles and often donates to local events, businesses and fundraisers.
The renaming will take place at 615 School St. in White Lake, starting at 1 p.m. with refreshments being served, and it is recommended attendees bring their own lawn-chair.
