David Rusch

 David James Rusch, age 79, of Pickerel died peacefully at his home in Pickerel on Saturday, August 15.

David was born on May 7, 1941, to the late John Julius and Evelyn Ethel (Kuhl) Rusch.

On April 3, 2012 he was united in marriage to Mary L. Nelson after they had been together for many years. 

In the winter of 1994-95, David and Mary bought The Break Away Bar in Pickerel.

He worked in logging and hydraulic equipment repair and sales. 

David was an avid fisherman and loved cutting wood with his best friend, John.

David was a graduate of Antigo High School and served in the Army National Guard Active Duty.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary, include daughter, Pam Olson of Stevens Point and her children Brooke Ferkus and her children Audrey, Riley, Kinzie and son, Peyton; son Steve and Lori Rusch and their sons Eli and Michael, stepdaughter Michelle (Bill) Cable of Pickerel and her children, Keara Stolzman and her son Brehkan, son Jordan and Tiffany Stolzman their children; Brilynn, Reagan and Miles and Brandi Fleischman and her son Parker all of Antigo, stepson Joe and Kathy Nelson of Pearson and their children Ashley and Daniel Wicke of Wittenberg and their children Hunter and Guage, Josh Nelson of Florida, Jenny Meister of Wittenberg, and Holly Van Price of Green Bay a brother Jack (Ardis) Rusch of Post Lake and Alabama. David is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

He will be deeply missed by his shadows, Bat Kat and Misty.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his sister Donna Teske and her husband Dwight.  

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery. Military honors will be performed at the cemetery.
