Ricky “Rick” Bergbower, age 78, of the town of Peck, died at his home on Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021.
Rick was born Nov. 5, 1942, in Effingham, Ill., to the late Leonard and Geraldine (Koontz) Bergbower.
Rick worked for Sheraton and Hilton Hotels as their chief engineer for many years. In 1993, Rick moved to St. Germain and owned and operated The Musky Inn. In 2002, he moved to the town of Peck where he hobby farmed. He was an animal lover, having draft horses, raising St. Bernards and cats.
Along with his son, Don, Rick loved to work on his 1965 GTO and take it to car shows. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a Chicago Bears fan.
Rick also served in the U.S. Army.
Rick is survived by a son, Donald (Heidi) Bergbower of the town of Peck; a brother, Curtis (Elaine) Bergbower of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and a sister, Brenda Butcher-Baszek of Illinois.
A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1-3 p.m. at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Father Charles Hoffmann will officiate.
