The Antigo boys swim team competed hard on Thursday in Minocqua, before dropping a competitive 69-50 Great Northern Conference meet to the Lakeland Thunderbirds.

Ezra Santiago was a double winner for the Robins, taking two of the team’s three wins on the night.

Santiago won the 200 yard freestyle by 11 seconds over second place Leo Rotor of Lakeland, ending in a time of 2:15.86.

He also took first in the 100 yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:08.53.

The lone remaining Red Robins’ win was in the 200 yard freestyle relay, where Santiago teamed with Dawson Behm, Aiden Anderson and Gordon Lucht to take first overall in a time of 2:08.74, over five seconds faster than their Lakeland counterparts.

Behm was also second in the 100 backstroke and 200 individual medley, and was part of the second place 400 free relay, along with Santiago, Lucht and Zander Reetz.

Anderson had one of his better performances of the season, also placing second in the 50 freestyle and third in the 100 backstroke.

Reetz was runner up in the 100 yard breaststroke and took third in the 100 freestyle.

Lucht ended fourth in both the 50 and 100 freestyle events.

The loss puts the Robins at 1-5 in conference meets, Lakeland is 1-4. The win for the T-Birds avenged a 56-49 defeat at the hands of Antigo earlier this season.

Next up for the boys swim team is a home meet with Rhinelander on Jan. 20.
