A tough non-conference slate may be helping the Wittenberg-Birnamwood volleyball team, as it moved to 2-0 in the Central Wisconsin East Conference with a 3-0 win over Bonduel Tuesday in Wittenberg.
The Chargers rolled to the win 25-13, 25-21 and 25-14 in front of a sizable home crowd.
“We played great tonight in front of our home crowd,” head coach Becky Rew said. “The girls showed everyone what we can do and sealed our second conference win. The excitement in the gym tonight was great.”
London Metropulos led the way with 12 kills on 28 hitting attempts, along with 12 digs and two blocks.
Reese Rogowski was big as well for the Chargers, coming through with 16 kills on 16 attempts, three aces and a team-high 17 digs.
Payton Foster led in the assist department with 17, Jadalynn Davids served three aces, while Kiara Deruchowski had 13 digs and Layla Huffman four blocks.
“Our fans did a fantastic job keeping the energy high which helped us keep our intensity,” Rew added.
In addition to its perfect conference mark, Wittenberg-Birnamwood improved to 8-10 overall. Bonduel is now 1-1 in the CWC East.
The Chargers will next host a triangular with Pacelli and Assumption on Thursday, beginning at 5 p.m.
