The Antigo boys JV2 basketball team notched its first win of the season Tuesday evening in convincing fashion, downing Lakeland 47-21.

The Red Robins deployed a smothering defense, holding the Thunderbirds to just seven points in the second half.

Along with the stout D, Antigo showed off a balanced scoring attack, with all six players who suited up for the contest finding the scorebook.

Mitchell Hotchkiss was the top point-getter for the Robins, dropping in 11. Jake Verhasselt scored 10, Ben Robrecht and Hunter Aiuppy each netted nine, Mike Preboski splashed six, and Cody Parsons contributed two points.

The JV2 Red Robins are back in action Friday at home against Mosinee.

It’s the first of back-to-back matchups between the teams, who will also tangle on Tuesday in Mosinee.

It’s a busy week ahead for the JV2, who also Rhinelander and Medford.
