The Antigo Red Robins have drawn a two seed for the WIAA softball playoffs, which begin on Wednesday.
The Robins will compete in Division Two, however the team has earned a first round bye and will open by hosting the winner of conference foes Rhinelander and Lakeland on Monday, June 14 at Al Remington Field.
With the long wait between games, Antigo has also added an additional regular season game this Thursday, as Wisconsin Valley Conference squad Wausau East will visit for a 4 p.m. first pitch.
The Robins hold a current season record of 13-7, while finishing 8-4 in the Great Northern Conference, good for second place.
Antigo defeated both Rhinelander and Lakeland twice this season, although both wins over Rhinelander were by a single run.
A win would send the Robins to a regional final on Wednesday, June 16.
The only other softball team in our coverage area in the postseason is the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers, who are enjoying a strong season at 12-1 overall.
That mark has earned the Chargers a one seed in Division Three. Wittenberg-Birnamwood will open on Monday, June 14 against the winner of eighth-seeded Stratford and number nine Nekoosa.
